Next, we experienced a virtual camera set scout with Adam Habib (DP Camera), Ryan Heuett (Layout Lead), and Sunguk Chun (Layout Lead). We got to handle digital cameras on their working Gamma Stage, scouting the Headquarters from the Inside Out 2 set.
4. Character Design Exploration
Jason Deamer (Production Designer) and Keiko Murayama (Character Designer) walked us through the process of designing new emotions. We even had the opportunity to design our own new emotion, gaining insight into the creative challenges Pixar faces when developing new characters.
5. Animation Polish Review
We were then taken into the heart of animation to observe an Animation Polish Review. This process involves weeks of work on a single shot, addressing numerous notes along the way. It was a testament to the meticulous effort Pixar animators put into perfecting every moment.
6. Story Pitch
Finally, we witnessed a story pitch session with John Hoffman (Story Supervisor) and Becca McVeigh (Story Artist). Becca pitched a scene and received feedback from director Kelsey Mann, giving us a glimpse into the collaborative nature of Pixar’s storytelling process.
